The permanent collection is of particular importance in the context of Mumbai, a city whose contours have been defined by textile mills. The design vocabulary of this exhibition continually refers to the nature and creation of textiles. The rich array of colours used to dye fabric in India identifies the different sections of the collection. The dynamic way in which one experiences the collection is reflective of the warp and weft pattern that is weaved into textiles.
